Hi everyone,
Hopefully winter is over and we can look forward to slightly warmer springtime....
Bo' Weavil has a few new releases lined up, 2 new sidra edition vinyls and a reissue of a Bo' Weavil title....Pre-orders being taken now, they should be ready in about 2 weeks, give or take a bit.
Reines D'Angleterre (Ghedalia Tazartes/el-g/Jo) Les Comores limited to 400 hand numbered copies, embossed gold lettering cover.
Reines D'Angleterre is inexplicable ethnic residue, the prince of all taste, a stripped back smear on the blight of genre. The music of Reines D'Angleterre's feasts on duality: chaos and order, narrative and anti narrative, erection and destruction, dread and comedy. The voice rides alongside electronics: cracked beaten, weathered and bruised.
él-g met Ghédalia via a radio show which resulted in high frivolity. Following this Jo was asked to join them in the band which manifested in 2008. To the public, they first surfaced playing a live set at the esteemed Colour out of Space festival in Brighton, a welcoming bed for all idiophonics. Reines D'Angleterre made friends with a damaged conglomeration of live concrete, sound poetry, faux ethnicity and sincere eccentricity. Subsequent shows allowed the outfit to explore and refine their discovered terrain as it unfolded. A recording session resulted in the unique concoction 'Les Comores' (a reference to the island off the eastern coast of Africa which France still administers as an 'overseas collectivity'). A band made up of Ghédalia Tazartes and a couple of hyperactive young buck Parisians Jo and él-g. Both of these humans are steeped in unsavory operations covering grounds of pop, electronic hallucinations, damaged pyramids and hurled comedy (él-g) and the Tanzprocesz
label and Placenta Popeye duet (Jo ). They also both perform under the moniker of Opéra Mort. (Mark Harwood)

Talibam! With Alan Wilkinson Dem Ol' Apple Pie Melodies limited to 350 hand numbered copies, screen print cover....
Determined to continue collaborating with revolutionary blitzkrieg musicians in perpetuity, Talibam! (Matt Mottel and Kevin Shea) were set up on a blind date with Alan Wilkinson by Bo' Weavil Recordings for a London basement show in May '08. Like a late '60's Sadean love-in ripe with Joycean epiphanies, Talibam! heard in Wilkinson's tone the strength and grit of a fine british pint served cool and fresh...a perfect energy to swing-bounce their rolly polly hieroglyphic dance mayhem. A second gig happened in fall '08, followed by this recording in winter '09. If Talibam! and Wilkinson were a rugby team they'd be in first place, trouncing competitors with more riff hard tenacity and more powerful/declarative end zone dances.
Balancing contradictory cultural fragments into a psychadelic yin and yang power drive of glitch emission sprezzatura horns, Zarathrusta organ drone launch, and sayanora-rama drum spills, alan wilkinson, matt mottel, and kevin shea turn anamitronic nihilists into veritable musicological sexphorisms -- they cut the tension on the dance floor like that abrupt liminal point between peace and footsie, between donuts and bagels, between lizards and turtles. Our three dangerously handsome myriad-men from the future have materialized mixed signals into sharp-fanged foreign accents on this red-eye voyage to vinyl metropoly, a 2-sided ecosystem of Gatsby-killer morph-prov entitled "dem old apple pie melodies".

Sharron Kraus, Meg Baird & Helena Espvall Leaves From Off The Tree CD
available now: http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/leaves.html
Finally reissued. The LP and CD of this release fell out of print a couple of years ago, and now if back a slim gatefold CD sleeve.
Leaves From Off The Tree is a three-way project of Sharron Kraus, Meg Baird & Helena Espvall (Espers). This is a beautiful recording of traditional folk material, with the most stunning singing and arrangements of some of England and Appalachia's finest songs. "The songs on this record were recorded after many an evening swapping songs (and beers!) in Fishtown, Philadelphia, where Sharron had moved from her native England, and Meg and Helena were already installed. Meg and Sharron both had traditional music backgrounds and would meet up and teach each other Appalachian and English ballads, and improvise harmonies and alternate melodies. At some point Helena was invited along and her voice and cello added a rich new layer. We wanted to record the songs in a way that would capture the relaxed atmosphere of our gatherings, so we recorded all nine songs live in one afternoon."
