		 <title>Garbage &#38; The Flowers double LP and double CD...OUT NOW</title>
		 <link>http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/cgi-bin/mail.cgi/archive/boweavil/20130213072945/</link>
		 <description>&#60;p&#62;Hiya everyone,&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Just a quick note to say that The Garbage &#38;amp; The Flowers double LP and double CD are finally out. Those of you that pre-ordered the CD would have had it by now. Those who pre-ordered the LP, it's on its way as we speak. The LP is a double with a bonus CD of extra material and a download code. &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
For those of you that didn't pre-order I don't imagine the 500 edition LP will last very long, so hurry if it all interests you, if it doesn't then I am sorry for the intrusion.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
In a week or so's time there will be another email about C Joynes next 7&#38;quot; in his series!!!&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
here's some links:&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_51.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_51.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
some MP3 will go up very soon....&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
and here's some blurb:&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Fire Records &#38;amp; Bo Weavil Recordings are extremely proud to present the long awaited re-issue of The Garbage &#38;amp; the Flowers&#38;#146; classic double album &#38;#145;Eyes Rind As If Beggars&#38;#146;, a sprawling collection of fragile melodies, abrasive improvisations and velvet voices. The story of The Garbage &#38;amp; The Flowers, by some measure Wellington&#38;#146;s most brilliant pop band, is equal parts classic underground rock&#38;#146;n&#38;#146;roll and a hazy ramshackle history pockmarked with bursts of genius and stoned rehearsals.&#60;br /&#62;
Rare is it for any band to garner so much underground acclaim whilst leading such a nebulous existence. A small handful of releases, compilation appearances and few live shows make for a curious stop/start history. Tension can produce the goods and tension was what watered The Garbage and the Flowers.&#60;br /&#62;
Yuri Frusin (guitar, songwriting) and Helen Johnstone (viola, vocals, now bass) met in their teens sometime in the 1980s.&#60;br /&#62;
As Frusin recalls, &#38;#147;Helen and I met when we were 16 or 17 and practically one of our first conversations went something like: &#38;#145;I want to be in a band&#38;#146; and &#38;#145;I want to be in a band too!&#38;#146; Of course, at the time being in a band seemed like an almost unattainable prize.&#38;#148; Naming themselves after a line in Leonard Cohen&#38;#146;s &#38;#145;Suzanne&#38;#146; and taking cues from the Velvet Underground, the band has existed in some shape or form since, with help from Paul Yates, Heath Cozens, Torben Tilly, Rachel Davies, Kristen Wineera, and Stuart Porter.&#60;br /&#62;
B E G G A R S&#38;#146;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
When asked recently about the group, original drummer Tilly offers a particularly apt description of their sound: &#38;#147;What I loved about the music we created is that it sounded like it had come from somewhere faraway, that it had traveled a lot of distance and gathered some dust and debris along the way. That said, despite its unhinged qualities we were never really a noise-band even though some strange and beautiful electromagnetic noise would make it to tape. Most of the time it was all deeply rooted in a song&#38;#148;.&#60;br /&#62;
This, of course, is one of the greatest parts of The Garbage &#38;amp; The Flowers&#38;#146; charm. They really did seem out there, on their own, absorbed in their own world, dropping gem after gem of fractal noise-pop onto slowly corroding four-track cassettes, willing these songs into existence just long enough to let them catch breath and glide away from the speakers for a few moments, before Frusin and Johnstone would knuckle down and write yet more beautiful melodies for beautiful losers.&#60;br /&#62;
This is a rock&#38;#146;n&#38;#146;roll classic which will whip the wigs off all the crystalline clowns today. Available in 2LP version and CD version. Both versions come with a bonus full length CD of additional material.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;

		 <title>New Releases (Reines D'Angleterre/Oren Ambarchi/Stephanie Hladowski &#38; C Joynes</title>
		 <link>http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/cgi-bin/mail.cgi/archive/boweavil/20120804195610/</link>
		 <description>&#60;p&#62;Hi everyone,&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
3 up coming new releases that you can pre-order from now.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Firstly a big apology for those of you still waiting for Tom James Scott new LP Drape. We had to go back to the start and repress the LP and reprint the cover because of faults out of our control. It will be finally ready next week. A huge sorry for those who have been waiting.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
On to the PRE-ORDERs&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
1.      Reines D&#38;#146;Angleterre (Ghedalia Tazartes/Elg/Jo) &#38;#150; Dynastie Et Globe LP/CD &#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_50.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_50.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
READY NEXT WEEK&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
2.      Stephanie Hladowski &#38;amp; C Joynes &#38;#150; The Wild Wild Berry LP/CD &#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_49.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_49.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
CD READY NOW VINYL IN A MONTH&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
3.      Oren Ambarchi &#38;#150; Raga Ooty / Nilgiri Plateau &#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_48.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_48.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
READY NEXT MONTH&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
1.      Totally psyched to have the opportunity to release the second album by Reines d'Angleterre. This time a thoroughly studio affair. Reines d&#38;#146;Angleterre is a fascinating collaboration between avant outsider musician Gh&#38;eacute;dalia Tazart&#38;egrave;s and two electronic botanists, &#38;egrave;lg and Jo aka Op&#38;eacute;ra Mort. This LP covers more of the wild ground the band started with on &#38;#147;Les Comores&#38;#148; released back in 2010, but going further into a musical terrain that defies definite description&#38;#133;a slow trip into wizards intimacy, synthetic jungles, underseas zoos and tibetan-industrial complexes. It feels like one has stumbled into disturbing dreams from a different realm. A quality of mystery, trickery and halucinatory movements slip and shift across the recording. This is out there music, experimental music with no fixed idio with a unique quality that defies most todays recording.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
2. This is the first recordings for Bo&#38;#146; Weavil by English folk singer Stephanie Hladowski, coming together with regular recording artist C Joynes. The Wild Wild Berry a highly individual record, that accents both their respective styles. Chris&#38;#146; melodic beauty is equally matched by Stephanie&#38;#146;s turn of phrase. The album contains their renditions of eleven British traditionals, some better known than others. All the songs were mostly selected from archive recordings at Cecil Sharp House, and chosen on the basis of something unique about the original recording rather than the song itself. Nothing about the record is a let down, the simple melodies and powerful authority that both exhibit make this a recording that one will play a thousand times over .&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
3. Raga Ooty unearths three previously unreleased works (each titled with reference to the area in south India where his mother was born) from Oren Ambarchi&#38;#146;s archive, showcasing the rawer side of his solo work between 2006 and 2011. The side-long Raga Ooty unspools a twisting, skittering thread of gritty guitar harmonics over a bed of buzzing tambura drone, creating the same paradoxical impression of simultaneous stasis and forward propulsion achieved by minimalist masters such as Henry Flynt, to whom this work is dedicated. The Nilgiri Plateau generates an 8 minute wash of gleaming overtones from a 12 string acoustic guitar played with motors, continuing the experiments first made public on the 2007 Stacte Motors LP. The closing Raga Ooty (Slight Return) returns to the distorted guitar harmonic hysterics of the opening piece, this time elaborated over a wash of Ambarchi&#38;#146;s signature Leslie cabinet tones, building relentlessly over the course of 12 minutes recorded live in Ba&#60;br /&#62;
sel late last year.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;

		 <title>New Release 7&#34;</title>
		 <link>http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/cgi-bin/mail.cgi/archive/boweavil/20120131053336/</link>
		 <description>&#60;p&#62;Hiya everyone,&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
not usual to have 2 emails so close to one another. But there's a new C  joynes 7&#38;quot; in collaboration with Great Pop Supplement....we only have a few copies...also attached is the last send out as over 150 didn't get it, as I was having some email issues....those of you that ordered th C Joynes Congo LP, they should be with you soon, all were sent out yesterday. Finally....sorry for the delay&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
3rd instalment of the GPS / Bo Weavil series of C Joynes 45s, featuring collaborative pieces with a disparate group of fellow travellers.&#38;nbsp;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
This time around, contributions come from Ethno-Noise Heroes &#38;#145;Harappian Nights Recordings&#38;#146;, Fredericksburg VA&#38;#146;s Sacred Harp, and Gavin Prior of United Bible Studies. A staggering project where Joynes&#38;#146; renowned playing is backed by an almost anarchic drone-buzz of Eastern instrumentation, mood and feel. A truly psychedelic merging of styles, heavily prominent on HNR mainguy Syed Kamran Ali&#38;#146;s uniquely scatter gun use of ouds, screeching jouhikkos, finger harp and so on.&#38;nbsp;&#60;br /&#62;
A fabulously dense, psych 45 in beautiful diecut sleeve in an edition of just 300 vinyl 45s.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/bow03.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/bow03.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
here's the last email.....&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Hi everyone,&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Happy 2012....hope the beginning of the year has been great for all of you....&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
firstly an apology to all of you who pre-ordered the C Joynes - Congo LP. Delays and the pressing plant, then a faulty pressing and repress have delayed this by months. I am very sorry about that, but the final LPs are on their way to the UK now and should be sent out this week. Unless some more delays happen with the post. But fingers crossed that won't happen.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
now on to the 2 new releases coming up in MARCH, so these are pre-orders, and hopefully there won't be any delays on this....&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Firstly, a double LP and CD from Drone metal guitarist Stephen O'Malley, in a duo with regular Bo' Weaviler Steve Noble - St Francis Duo -&#60;br /&#62;
Having played together in &#38;AElig;thenor for the last couple of years, Steve Noble &#38;amp; Stephen O'Malley came together to play as a duo at Cafe Oto in 2011. These recordings are the results of these two hot and sticky nights in East London. Noble having appeared on over nine recordings for the label, is a linch pin in London's improvising community. Steve studied with Nigeria master drummer Elkan Ogunde and in the early 1980s and over the last 20 years has played with most of the great players from 4 corners of the globe. Stephen O'Malley predominantly a guitarist, producer and composer from Seattle who has been at the centre of avant-garde/drone metal, best known for his group Sunn0))), and also a prolific collaborator with many of the finest improvisers. So it was bound to be a memorable night of music to see these two to meet. Noble sets the recording off with a full tribal charge, while Stephen instead of firing off a shard of ecstatic notes and chords, coaxed his guitar into singi&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
ng a slow ever growing roar. But soon the two are of into some wildest creative rampages - exciting drum and guitar territory, sounding at times not too dissimilar to Haino's Fushitsusha, brutally beautiful shredded riffs from O&#38;#146;Malley met with Noble's exuberant rhythmic force . Over 2 slabs of vinyl and CD the memory of these 2 nights can be heard in full violent sonic attack.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_47.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_47.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Tom James Scott's third album for Bo' Weavil, this time comes as a ltd vinyl only edition - Drape -&#60;br /&#62;
Tom's two previous CD releases for Bo&#38;#146;Weavil both featured acoustic guitar as primary voice. His first LP - while maintaining similar melodic sensibilities and a feeling of hushed expanse - sees piano become the main focus, with the title, &#38;#145;Drape&#38;#146; (defined in literature documenting past and present dialect native to what is now Cumbria, as, &#38;#145;to speak slowly&#38;#146;) determining pace and durations across the four pieces presented. Strings of single notes become humming, shadowy resonances within the body of the instrument, echoing into frequent pause and fragmentation.&#60;br /&#62;
Initially conceived on guitar and voice, photograph and title were also principal catalysts in the formation of the final work. The image of an older relative as a child holds a likeness through subsequent generations. A now largely extinct colloquial definition of a word still in common use marks change through evolution and loss. Both convey a past unknown at first-hand, yet both are reflected in the present, fragmented and imagined.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/sidra_07.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/sidra_07.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
BOTH OF THESE WON'T BE READY UNTIL MID MARCH.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;

		 <title>Pre-orders Stephen O'Malley/ Steve Noble LP and Tom James Scott LP (march release)</title>
		 <link>http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/cgi-bin/mail.cgi/archive/boweavil/20120115043533/</link>
		 <description>&#60;p&#62;HI everyone,&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Happy 2012....hope the beginning of the year has been great for all of you....&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
firstly an apology to all of you who pre-ordered the C Joynes - Congo LP. Delays and the pressing plant, then a faulty pressing and repress have delayed this by months. I am very sorry about that, but the final LPs are on their way to the UK now and should be sent out this week. Unless some more delays happen with the post. But fingers crossed that won't happen.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
now on to the 2 new releases coming up in MARCH, so these are pre-orders, and hopefully there won't be any delays on this....&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Firstly, a double LP and CD from Drone metal guitarist Stephen O'Malley, in a duo with regular Bo' Weaviler Steve Noble - St Francis Duo -&#60;br /&#62;
Having played together in &#38;AElig;thenor for the last couple of years, Steve Noble &#38;amp; Stephen O'Malley came together to play as a duo at Cafe Oto in 2011. These recordings are the results of these two hot and sticky nights in East London. Noble having appeared on over nine recordings for the label, is a linch pin in London's improvising community. Steve studied with Nigeria master drummer Elkan Ogunde and in the early 1980s and over the last 20 years has played with most of the great players from 4 corners of the globe. Stephen O'Malley predominantly a guitarist, producer and composer from Seattle who has been at the centre of avant-garde/drone metal, best known for his group Sunn0))), and also a prolific collaborator with many of the finest improvisers. So it was bound to be a memorable night of music to see these two to meet. Noble sets the recording off with a full tribal charge, while Stephen instead of firing off a shard of ecstatic notes and chords, coaxed his guitar into singi&#60;br /&#62;
ng a slow ever growing roar. But soon the two are of into some wildest creative rampages - exciting drum and guitar territory, sounding at times not too dissimilar to Haino's Fushitsusha, brutally beautiful shredded riffs from O&#38;#146;Malley met with Noble's exuberant rhythmic force . Over 2 slabs of vinyl and CD the memory of these 2 nights can be heard in full violent sonic attack.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_47.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_47.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Tom James Scott's third album for Bo' Weavil, this time comes as a ltd vinyl only edition - Drape -&#60;br /&#62;
Tom's two previous CD releases for Bo&#38;#146;Weavil both featured acoustic guitar as primary voice. His first LP - while maintaining similar melodic sensibilities and a feeling of hushed expanse - sees piano become the main focus, with the title, &#38;#145;Drape&#38;#146; (defined in literature documenting past and present dialect native to what is now Cumbria, as, &#38;#145;to speak slowly&#38;#146;) determining pace and durations across the four pieces presented. Strings of single notes become humming, shadowy resonances within the body of the instrument, echoing into frequent pause and fragmentation.&#60;br /&#62;
Initially conceived on guitar and voice, photograph and title were also principal catalysts in the formation of the final work. The image of an older relative as a child holds a likeness through subsequent generations. A now largely extinct colloquial definition of a word still in common use marks change through evolution and loss. Both convey a past unknown at first-hand, yet both are reflected in the present, fragmented and imagined.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/sidra_07.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/sidra_07.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
BOTH OF THESE WON'T BE READY UNTIL MID MARCH.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;

		 <title>Bo' Weavil C Joynes new album LP/CD</title>
		 <link>http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/cgi-bin/mail.cgi/archive/boweavil/20111012004239/</link>
		 <description>&#60;p&#62;Hi everyone,&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
another email in so soon after the last. But yet another release is ready for pre-orders. &#60;br /&#62;
For those of you that made pre-orders on Roil CD, Simon H Fell CD, Hession / Wilkinson / Fell CD or Alan Wilkinson CD, they will be posting in the next few days. Thanks for the orders. those of you that want one feel free to order, limited to 300 copies, so they won't be around for long.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/releases.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/releases.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
C Joynes - Congo LP/CD. CD is available now, the LP will be ready in about a months time.&#60;br /&#62;
CD limited to 500 and LP 350 copies (silk screened cover, produced in the US)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_46.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_46.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/joynes.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/joynes.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
There are not too many guitar-players I respect without any reservation. Off the top of my head there&#38;#146;s Guitar Roberts, Bill Orcutt and Sir Richard Bishop. And C Joynes. Of the former, I&#38;#146;d say Joynes&#38;#146;s closest stylistic analogue is, for my money, that noble Knight of Araby. Not that licks are copped from that Flower of Chivalry and his unimpeachable companions, the dervishes of delirium. But Joynes does borrow from as many and varied traditions as the Sun City Girls, and like them he never descends into world music blanditudination, nor the faux-hokey archaisms of Arcadie. His technique, like Sir Richard&#38;#146;s, is a fuller&#38;#146;s earth that purifies all such dross and fills the ear with myrrh of the sweetest grade.&#60;br /&#62;
Not many traffic in liquors this strong, so hitch that pony, pilgrim, and drink a while. (from the liner notes by Bruce Russell)&#60;br /&#62;
