		 <link>http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/cgi-bin/mail.cgi/archive/boweavil/20120131053336/</link>
		 <description>&#60;p&#62;Hiya everyone,&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
not usual to have 2 emails so close to one another. But there's a new C  joynes 7&#38;quot; in collaboration with Great Pop Supplement....we only have a few copies...also attached is the last send out as over 150 didn't get it, as I was having some email issues....those of you that ordered th C Joynes Congo LP, they should be with you soon, all were sent out yesterday. Finally....sorry for the delay&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
3rd instalment of the GPS / Bo Weavil series of C Joynes 45s, featuring collaborative pieces with a disparate group of fellow travellers.&#38;nbsp;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
This time around, contributions come from Ethno-Noise Heroes &#38;#145;Harappian Nights Recordings&#38;#146;, Fredericksburg VA&#38;#146;s Sacred Harp, and Gavin Prior of United Bible Studies. A staggering project where Joynes&#38;#146; renowned playing is backed by an almost anarchic drone-buzz of Eastern instrumentation, mood and feel. A truly psychedelic merging of styles, heavily prominent on HNR mainguy Syed Kamran Ali&#38;#146;s uniquely scatter gun use of ouds, screeching jouhikkos, finger harp and so on.&#38;nbsp;&#60;br /&#62;
A fabulously dense, psych 45 in beautiful diecut sleeve in an edition of just 300 vinyl 45s.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/bow03.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/bow03.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
here's the last email.....&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Hi everyone,&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Happy 2012....hope the beginning of the year has been great for all of you....&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
firstly an apology to all of you who pre-ordered the C Joynes - Congo LP. Delays and the pressing plant, then a faulty pressing and repress have delayed this by months. I am very sorry about that, but the final LPs are on their way to the UK now and should be sent out this week. Unless some more delays happen with the post. But fingers crossed that won't happen.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
now on to the 2 new releases coming up in MARCH, so these are pre-orders, and hopefully there won't be any delays on this....&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Firstly, a double LP and CD from Drone metal guitarist Stephen O'Malley, in a duo with regular Bo' Weaviler Steve Noble - St Francis Duo -&#60;br /&#62;
Having played together in &#38;AElig;thenor for the last couple of years, Steve Noble &#38;amp; Stephen O'Malley came together to play as a duo at Cafe Oto in 2011. These recordings are the results of these two hot and sticky nights in East London. Noble having appeared on over nine recordings for the label, is a linch pin in London's improvising community. Steve studied with Nigeria master drummer Elkan Ogunde and in the early 1980s and over the last 20 years has played with most of the great players from 4 corners of the globe. Stephen O'Malley predominantly a guitarist, producer and composer from Seattle who has been at the centre of avant-garde/drone metal, best known for his group Sunn0))), and also a prolific collaborator with many of the finest improvisers. So it was bound to be a memorable night of music to see these two to meet. Noble sets the recording off with a full tribal charge, while Stephen instead of firing off a shard of ecstatic notes and chords, coaxed his guitar into singi&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
ng a slow ever growing roar. But soon the two are of into some wildest creative rampages - exciting drum and guitar territory, sounding at times not too dissimilar to Haino's Fushitsusha, brutally beautiful shredded riffs from O&#38;#146;Malley met with Noble's exuberant rhythmic force . Over 2 slabs of vinyl and CD the memory of these 2 nights can be heard in full violent sonic attack.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_47.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_47.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Tom James Scott's third album for Bo' Weavil, this time comes as a ltd vinyl only edition - Drape -&#60;br /&#62;
Tom's two previous CD releases for Bo&#38;#146;Weavil both featured acoustic guitar as primary voice. His first LP - while maintaining similar melodic sensibilities and a feeling of hushed expanse - sees piano become the main focus, with the title, &#38;#145;Drape&#38;#146; (defined in literature documenting past and present dialect native to what is now Cumbria, as, &#38;#145;to speak slowly&#38;#146;) determining pace and durations across the four pieces presented. Strings of single notes become humming, shadowy resonances within the body of the instrument, echoing into frequent pause and fragmentation.&#60;br /&#62;
Initially conceived on guitar and voice, photograph and title were also principal catalysts in the formation of the final work. The image of an older relative as a child holds a likeness through subsequent generations. A now largely extinct colloquial definition of a word still in common use marks change through evolution and loss. Both convey a past unknown at first-hand, yet both are reflected in the present, fragmented and imagined.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/sidra_07.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/sidra_07.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
BOTH OF THESE WON'T BE READY UNTIL MID MARCH.&#60;br /&#62;

&#60;br /&#62;
C Joynes - Congo LP/CD. CD is available now, the LP will be ready in about a months time.&#60;br /&#62;
CD limited to 500 and LP 350 copies (silk screened cover, produced in the US)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_46.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_46.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/joynes.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/joynes.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
There are not too many guitar-players I respect without any reservation. Off the top of my head there&#38;#146;s Guitar Roberts, Bill Orcutt and Sir Richard Bishop. And C Joynes. Of the former, I&#38;#146;d say Joynes&#38;#146;s closest stylistic analogue is, for my money, that noble Knight of Araby. Not that licks are copped from that Flower of Chivalry and his unimpeachable companions, the dervishes of delirium. But Joynes does borrow from as many and varied traditions as the Sun City Girls, and like them he never descends into world music blanditudination, nor the faux-hokey archaisms of Arcadie. His technique, like Sir Richard&#38;#146;s, is a fuller&#38;#146;s earth that purifies all such dross and fills the ear with myrrh of the sweetest grade.&#60;br /&#62;
Not many traffic in liquors this strong, so hitch that pony, pilgrim, and drink a while. (from the liner notes by Bruce Russell)&#60;br /&#62;

&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
(and in C Joynes new LP &#38;amp; CD should be ready sometime soon after.)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
more info below&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Weavil42CD &#38;#150; Roil &#38;#150; Frost Frost Ltd 500 copies&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/roil.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/roil.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Bo' Weavil is excited to present the second album from the Sydney trio Roil. All three of the members of Roil - James Waples, Mike Majkowski and Chris Abrahams have been active in the Australian jazz and Improvised music scenes for many years; James is possibly best known for his work in the Mike Nock Trio; Mike performs regularly with such musicians as Jon Rose and Clayton Thomas; many people would know of Chris through his work with the three&#38;#8208;piece group The Necks. Together they have been playing as Roil since 2007, and this is their first release outside of Australia. Their music draws upon varied pallet; at times it comes close to Free Jazz, at other times to Experimental Improv, while also referencing other styles such as Minimalism, Reductionism and Ambient Music. A Roil piece incorporates aspects of textural improvisation, bringing extended techniques to bear on a collective sound world; while also being melodic and conventionally rhythmic. Bringing together the &#60;br /&#62;
abstract and the figurative.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Weavil43CD &#38;#150; Simon H Fell &#38;#150; Frank &#38;amp; Max Ltd 300 copies&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/fell.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/fell.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Another Important recording that needed to be released was the solo recordings of Simon H Fell, one of the UK's finest bassist, although currently based in France, Simon has been and still is the bass player of choice for many. These tracks were recorded over the last 10 years, which was the last time that he released some solo material (a cassette release) on his own Bruce's Finger imprint.&#60;br /&#62;
This recording covers almost every aspect of Simon's playing, the rhythmic strength and melodic structure of his music, to the outer regions of extended tachnique.....eaking out all manner of sounds from his bass. It is a privilege to be able to release such great music.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#38;nbsp;&#60;br /&#62;
Weavil44CD &#38;#150; Hession/Wilkinson/Fell &#38;#150; Two Falls And A Submission &#38;#150; Ltd 350 copies&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/hwf.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/hwf.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#38;#147;Greetings, Grapple Fans&#38;#148; were the words that introduced Saturday afternoon wrestling on British commercial television when all three members of this trio were boys. These memorable words were spoken by a silky-voiced commentator called Kent Walton, who commentated on the wrestling between 1955 and 1988.&#60;br /&#62;
When discussing improvised music one frequently use analogies and there are three in particular that usually come to mind: having a conversation, making love, or wrestling. Wrestling seems particularly apt when thinking about the music of HWF as the group does tend towards a playful, grappling style. This irreverence i conducive to making good music and it speaks of their ease with each other&#38;#146;s playing that they can throw each other around and pin each other to the canvas, musically speaking. This recording was made during a reunion tour for over 20 years of playing together, and it is their first for Bo' Weavil. They have recorded for a number of labels in the past; Fell's Bruce's Fingers imprint and Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace, but this is their first in many years. Lets hope its the start of many more......&#60;br /&#62;
&#38;nbsp;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Weavil45CD &#38;#150; Alan Wilkinson &#38;#150; Practice &#38;#150; Ltd 300 copies&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/wilkinson.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/wilkinson.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Alan Wilkinson's first solo release &#38;#145;Seedy Boy&#38;#146; was on Bruce&#38;#146;s Fingers from 1994, which consisted of a collection of solo recordings made in a variety of situations over a number of years. &#38;#145;Practice&#38;#146; on the other hand is from 2 recording sessions, the first to mark the end of the carpeted cell Alan used as a practice space for some years in an old hospital in Dalston, London. The second is from the purpose built rehearsal studios. It seemed an injustice that such a great and underrated saxophonist should not have a CD release cataloguing his solo performances. So it was natural for Bo' Weavil to ask Alan to record such a project. The results are an outstanding number of pieces showing where Alan got the nickname &#38;#147;Iron Lungs Wilkinson&#38;#148;, while also showing the more subtle jazz side to his playing as on Ornette Coleman's &#38;#147;Lonely Woman&#38;#148;.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Also for those of you in London check out the Sotto voce festival happening from the 29th sept - 2nd October &#38;#150; should be great!&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.sottovocefestival.org/2011/&#34;&#62;http://www.sottovocefestival.org/2011/&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
So much more to come this year and next &#38;#133;..&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Tom James Scott - solo paino LP (ltd 350) &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
C Joynes - Congo (third studio album Ltd CD 500 &#38;amp; LP 350) &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
The Garbage &#38;The Flowers - reissue of Eyes Rind As If Beggars (double LP &#38;amp; double CD with bonus material...great little known New Zealand band). &#60;br /&#62;

		 <title>Bo' Weavil 2 New LPs</title>
		 <link>http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/cgi-bin/mail.cgi/archive/boweavil/20110503152221/</link>
		 <description>&#60;p&#62;Hi everyone,&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Has been a quiet  start to the year at Bo' Weavil....things are getting back on track, and we are excited to have now ready for pre-orders 2 new very limited LPs. &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Both LPs will be heavy duty covers and screen printed and numbered to 350.....&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Oren Ambarchi &#38;amp; Robbie Aveniam&#38;nbsp;Shalat Chalom (Dream Request)&#38;nbsp;LP&#60;br /&#62;
A sublime duo recording from old sparring partners Oren Ambarchi and Robbie Aveniam recorded live in Tel Aviv in 2009.&#60;br /&#62;
This is a single edit of the performance which perfectly captures the chemistry between Robbie's busy percussive maneuvers and Oren's textural overlay. &#38;nbsp;&#38;nbsp;A previous performance of the pair was documented on the 'Clockwork' CD (re-issued by room40) and prior to this the notorious 'The Alter Rebbe's Niggun' CD was released on Tzadik.&#38;nbsp; Here, the two come together with an energetic performance of free interplay. &#38;nbsp; Steeped in rock, electronics and feedback the duo conjure an ecstatic instrumental journey.&#38;nbsp; Momentum builds whilst shifting around a variety of sonic styles&#38;nbsp;until the entire patchwork is laid bare, exposing all the nuance within. &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;&#60;br /&#62;
For a dream comes with much business and a fool&#38;#146;s voice with many words.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
you can pre-order from here:&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/sidra_05.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/sidra_05.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;

Firstly, this is not for the faint-hearted, but fear not, this is not another noise record. &#38;nbsp;This LP is something else altogether. &#38;nbsp;This is a massive, glorious psychedelic din, a thick fog of dramatic sound events. &#38;nbsp;Starving Weirdo's latest offering promises to enfold the listener who will experience the ecstatic grandeur of Anton Bruckner as much as the rich industrial drone of David Jackman. &#38;nbsp;This is Lhasa in California - a world drenched in ecstatic thrills and intense ethereal exploration. &#38;nbsp;&#60;br /&#62;
There are sounds, there are drones, there are rhythms and there are songs - a glorious concoction that moves in a vertical fashion. &#38;nbsp;As we live today, in all this murk; all this twisted history and convoluted present, we can be thankful that these folks in California came together to create such a glorious record for all to bathe in. &#38;nbsp; But this, like all good things, is limited and will not be around forever. &#38;nbsp; Step in now or forever remain the great unwashed.&#60;br /&#62;

ABOUT&#60;br /&#62;
Sottovoce is a London-based experimental live platform focused on&#60;br /&#62;
showcasing groundbreaking acts with a combination of &#38;#8220;un-amplified&#38;#8221; acts (jazz, improv and traditional folk) in one space alternating with &#38;#8220;louder&#38;#8221; acts (generally of &#38;#8220;noise music&#38;#8221; or guitar-based amplifications) on the other.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
SOTTOVOCE aims to present, introduce and showcase challenging, out of&#60;br /&#62;
the ordinary musical acts trying to expose the experimental musical genre to new audiences whilst maintaining the familiar crowd interested in new forms of presentation. Sottovoce is now in its third edition, the first festival of experimental music taking place in multiple venues and over a long weekend.&#60;br /&#62;

		 <title>Bo' Weavil Message</title>
		 <link>http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/cgi-bin/mail.cgi/archive/boweavil/20100608162115/</link>
		 <description>&#60;p&#62;Hi everyone,&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Just a little note about a new release on Bo' Weavil. &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
This is the live recording from Cafe Oto of Decoy &#38;amp; Joe McPhee from the end of 2009. &#60;br /&#62;
Decoy &#38;amp; Joe McPhee &#38;#150; Oto &#38;#150; weavil41CD&#60;br /&#62;
To order follow this link &#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_41.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_41.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
This one won't be in the shops until September, but it is now available from the website.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Previous Decoy releases:&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_40.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/weavil_40.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/sidra_02.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/sidra_02.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Line Notes:&#60;br /&#62;
Decoy&#38;#146;s first recordings as a trio (Vol 1: Spirit and Vol 2: The Deep), which were made 9 months before the meeting with McPhee, powerfully illustrated the range of possibilities opened up by bringing a completely fresh approach to what, on paper, looks like a familiar format. Received with appropriate enthusiasm, their confident debut encouraged the participants to take a further step with the addition of an illustrious guest. &#60;br /&#62;
Hawkins is a young composer and keyboardist with a rapidly growing reputation and a clear interest in working with musicians of diverse backgrounds (as No Now Is So, the enigmatically titled 2009 debut album by his own six-piece ensemble, fascinatingly attests). His early training as a pipe organist surely encourages him to exploit the full range of textures offered by the Hammond C3 and its accompanying Leslie speaker. John Edwards may well be the busiest musician on the improvising scene, his near-ubiquitous presence an infallible guarantee of vitality and substance; only his noted ability to bring a sagging session to life is &#38;nbsp;not required here. Steve Noble, who is among Edwards&#38;#146; regular partners, provides a fine combination of stealth and swing, of drama and discretion, although the dextrous aplomb with which he negotiated a solo passage for small untethered cymbals really had to be seen as well as heard.&#60;br /&#62;
McPhee may be a man of an earlier generation, but he shares their absolute devotion to clich&#38;eacute;-free spontaneity. Born in Miami in 1939 and raised in Poughkeepsie, New York, he started issuing albums on small labels in the late 1960s and has subsequently made a career &#38;#150; in both America and Europe, where he lived for a while in the 1970s &#38;#150; out of flying under the radar. Listening him working in this unusually stimulating context, and appreciating his eloquence, sensitivity and pronounced gift for timbral variation, it is difficult to understand why he is not spoken of more often in the same breath as some of the more renowned free saxophonists. His ability to sing through the trio&#38;#146;s array of pointilliste textures or to launch himself full-tilt into the churning maelstrom adds a significant element to an already remarkable organism. (Richard Williams)&#60;br /&#62;

		 <title>Bo' Weavil new releases</title>
		 <link>http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/cgi-bin/mail.cgi/archive/boweavil/20100311120231/</link>
		 <description>&#60;p&#62;Hi everyone,&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Hopefully winter is over and we can look forward to slightly warmer springtime....&#60;br /&#62;
Bo' Weavil has a few new releases lined up, 2 new sidra edition vinyls and a reissue of a Bo' Weavil title....Pre-orders being taken now, they should be ready in about 2 weeks, give or take a bit.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Reines D'Angleterre (Ghedalia Tazartes/el-g/Jo) &#38;#150; Les Comores limited to 400 hand numbered copies, embossed gold lettering cover.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Reines D'Angleterre is inexplicable ethnic residue, the prince of all taste, a stripped back smear on the blight of genre. The music of Reines D'Angleterre's feasts on duality: chaos and order, narrative and anti narrative, erection and destruction, dread and comedy. The voice rides alongside electronics: cracked beaten, weathered and bruised. &#60;br /&#62;
&#38;eacute;l-g met Gh&#38;eacute;dalia via a radio show which resulted in high frivolity. Following this Jo was asked to join them in the band which manifested in 2008. To the public, they first surfaced playing a live set at the esteemed Colour out of Space festival in Brighton, a welcoming bed for all idiophonics. Reines D'Angleterre made friends with a damaged conglomeration of live concrete, sound poetry, faux ethnicity and sincere eccentricity. Subsequent shows allowed the outfit to explore and refine their discovered terrain as it unfolded. A recording session resulted in the unique concoction 'Les Comores' (a reference to the island off the eastern coast of Africa which France still administers as an 'overseas collectivity'). A band made up of Gh&#38;eacute;dalia Tazartes and a couple of hyperactive young buck Parisians Jo and &#38;eacute;l-g. Both of these humans are steeped in unsavory operations covering grounds of pop, electronic hallucinations, damaged pyramids and hurled comedy (&#38;eacute;l-g) and the Tanzprocesz &#60;br /&#62;
label and Placenta Popeye duet (Jo ). They also both perform under the moniker of Op&#38;eacute;ra Mort. (Mark Harwood) &#60;br /&#62;

Talibam! With Alan Wilkinson &#38;#150; Dem Ol' Apple Pie Melodies limited to 350 hand numbered copies, screen print cover....&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Determined to continue collaborating with revolutionary blitzkrieg musicians in perpetuity, Talibam! (Matt Mottel and Kevin Shea) were set up on a blind date with Alan Wilkinson by Bo' Weavil Recordings for a London basement show in May '08. Like a late '60's Sadean love-in ripe with Joycean epiphanies, Talibam! heard in Wilkinson's tone the strength and grit of a fine british pint served cool and fresh...a perfect energy to swing-bounce their rolly polly hieroglyphic dance mayhem. A second gig happened in fall '08, followed by this recording in winter '09. If Talibam! and Wilkinson were a rugby team they'd be in first place, trouncing competitors with more riff hard tenacity and more powerful/declarative end zone dances. &#60;br /&#62;
Balancing contradictory cultural fragments into a psychadelic yin and yang power drive of glitch emission sprezzatura horns, Zarathrusta organ drone launch, and sayanora-rama drum spills, alan wilkinson, matt mottel, and kevin shea turn anamitronic nihilists into veritable musicological sexphorisms -- they cut the tension on the dance floor like that abrupt liminal point between peace and footsie, between donuts and bagels, between lizards and turtles. Our three dangerously handsome myriad-men from the future have materialized mixed signals into sharp-fanged foreign accents on this red-eye voyage to vinyl metropoly, a 2-sided ecosystem of Gatsby-killer morph-prov entitled &#38;quot;dem old apple pie melodies&#38;quot;.&#60;br /&#62;

Sharron Kraus, Meg Baird &#38;amp; Helena Espvall &#38;#150; Leaves From Off The Tree CD &#60;br /&#62;
available now: &#60;a href=&#34;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/leaves.html&#34;&#62;http://www.boweavilrecordings.com/leaves.html&#60;/a&#62;&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Finally reissued. The LP and CD of this release fell out of print a couple of years ago, and now if back a slim gatefold CD sleeve. &#60;br /&#62;
Leaves From Off The Tree is a three-way project of Sharron Kraus, Meg Baird &#38;amp; Helena Espvall (Espers). This is a beautiful recording of traditional folk material, with the most stunning singing and arrangements of some of England and Appalachia's finest songs. &#38;quot;The songs on this record were recorded after many an evening swapping songs (and beers!) in Fishtown, Philadelphia, where Sharron had moved from her native England, and Meg and Helena were already installed. Meg and Sharron both had traditional music backgrounds and would meet up and teach each other Appalachian and English ballads, and improvise harmonies and alternate melodies. At some point Helena was invited along and her voice and cello added a rich new layer. We wanted to record the songs in a way that would capture the relaxed atmosphere of our gatherings, so we recorded all nine songs live in one afternoon.&#38;quot; &#60;br /&#62;
